Tasmania

O.K. - i'll admit it: I'D LIKE TO SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE HERE!

Having admitted this, let me tell you a little bit about this beautiful pearl of Australia. The clima is not so hot here... it's just warm enough to spend long evenings at the outside enjoying some Australian wines. The villages look like if time had stopped two hundred years ago. Nearly no big industries and the greatest nature on earth all around. We wanted some time for ourselfes, so we did rent a car and traveled around the island for a week.

Blockhut We did spend most nights in block huts. A little bit expensive but very comfy.

The possums around these huts can be quite nasty... some tourists are feeding them and this made them very aggressive. The one you can see here tried to get a snack from me while i was drinking a beer. I didn't have one for him, so instead he did bite my finger ... outsch. Possum

River Mountain The landscape in Tasmania consists of wild jungle, great beaches (ever heard of Wineglass Bay? You'll see it in most tourist prospects.) rivers and mountains. A great mix.

As we still didn't see some local animals so far we did also visit the tasmanian wildparks. So these are not really wild beasts. By the way - the cute, knuffy, little black animal is the famous Tasmanian Devil. Try to pet him and you can tell your hand goodbye ;-). Kangaroo Tasmanian Devil

It's been a great christmas here, but the new year 2000 was arriving fast and so we left *snief* and got on to Sydney.
